About the Role
Join our Southampton operations team as a Safety Equipment Technician and take the helm of a small, skilled team maintaining and servicing critical marine safety equipment. This is a hands-on role where your technical expertise will directly ensure the safety of life at sea, while also giving you the opportunity to mentor and lead a team of dedicated technicians.

Key Responsibilities
Hands-On Technical Work

Inspect, test, service, weigh, repack, and label life-saving equipment, including liferafts, lifejackets, first aid kits, and other marine safety systems.

Carry out maintenance, installation, and repairs to exacting safety and quality standards.

Diagnose faults, perform emergency repairs, and execute preventative maintenance inspections.

Produce accurate inspection and test reports to support operational compliance.

Assist with commissioning new or complex safety systems within your technical competence.

Maintain accurate stock records and manage inventory in line with stores procedures.
Team Leadership & Development

Lead and allocate daily work across your team, ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently.

Mentor and coach technicians on-the-job, providing skills development and performance feedback.

Support scheduling and resource planning to maximise team productivity.

Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement throughout the team.
About You – Essential Criteria

Hands-on experience servicing or maintaining equipment, ideally within liferaft operations or marine safety systems.

Demonstrated leadership experience as a senior technician or team lead.

Strong attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Full, valid driver’s licence and flexibility to travel as required.

Willingness to obtain rope access certification (if not already certified).

Self-motivated, able to work independently, and collaborate effectively while meeting operational targets.
