Role Summary
The Operations Manager – OT Infrastructure / Senior Wintel Administrator will own the operational stability, support, and administration of OT infrastructure and enterprise Windows/VMware environments. The role focuses on maintaining critical plant infrastructure, ensuring service availability, managing incidents, controlling changes, and improving infrastructure reliability.
The role requires close collaboration with plant operations, engineering, IT, cybersecurity teams, and vendors to support production-critical environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Take end-to-end ownership of OT infrastructure operations and service stability.
- Provide L3 support and administration for Windows Server and VMware environments.
- Manage Windows Server, VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and virtual machine operations.
- Perform troubleshooting for server, OS, VM, performance, connectivity, authentication, and availability issues.
- Support patching, hardening, backup/recovery activities, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
- Manage VMware activities including VM provisioning, migration, snapshots, cloning, resource optimization, and host maintenance.
- Handle major incidents, technical escalations, problem management, and root cause analysis.
- Ensure controlled and compliant changes in production-sensitive OT environments.
- Coordinate with storage, backup, network, cloud, application, security, and vendor teams.
- Monitor infrastructure risks, capacity, recurring issues, aging assets, and operational health.
- Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, recovery procedures, and compliance records.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong experience in Windows Server Administration.
- Strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere / ESXi / vCenter.
- Good understanding of:
- Active Directory
- DNS/DHCP
- Storage and backup concepts
- Virtualization and clustering
- Server hardening and patch management
- Experience supporting enterprise Wintel environments.
- Understanding of OT environments, including:
- Plant uptime requirements
- Production impact awareness
- Controlled access
- Limited change windows
- Vendor/OEM dependencies
Preferred Skills
- Backup technology experience.
- Exposure to Azure or hybrid environments.
- PowerShell scripting knowledge.
- ITIL knowledge.
- Experience with capacity and utilization reporting.
